I apologise in advance if this is a ridiculously simple question to answer.
I have several videos which are too big to upload to the forum. With some that were quite close I have run them through Handbrake and reduced the quality slightly to get them to fit, but I don’t really want to do that with video’s of, say, 500mb. I have seen some guys on here splitting the videos into several clips. Is there an easy to use and free program to do this that you could recommend?
Once again, sorry if this is a very simple question, but I am from the generation that grew up with the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64, so I was great at playing Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy, but never really got into all this I.T. stuff!
  

Openshot video editor is an option. If you import the video, you can right-click and select split the file. Or when exporting you can select until which frame you want to render. 

If your file isn't a mp4 to begin with, you can use something like [Permission to view this media is denied]
and click on additional settings. There you can trim your video.
